D.A.V.I.D. joins the Silex Media group
Strategic move is made as demand for efficient solutions & services to optimize broadcast workflow - ideally, from a single, reliable source - is now higher than ever before.
Innovative internet and radio technologies are gradually addressing and even going beyond television’s established market space. Alongside traditional broadcasters, scores of enterprises and public organizations are looking to use television and the Internet as means to capitalize on their archive resources.
Demand for efficient solutions capable of optimizing the broadcast workflow - ideally, from a single, reliable source - is now higher than ever before. Silex Media and D.A.V.I.D., both firmly established market players, are uniting under a single roof to build a stronger market position: as Silex Media investor SGI Japan Limited announced today, it has acquired all of the shares in D.A.V.I.D. GmbH. Silex Media CEO Stephan Schindler, in close cooperation with D.A.V.I.D. CEO Gerhard Möller, will begin to architect the two operations immediately. The two organizations will continue to operate in parallel.
"This new collaboration has come at exactly the right time," says Schindler. "D.A.V.I.D.'s solutions and IT expertise and its many years of experience in radio are the perfect complement to our own offering of products and services. We will be able to deliver a much broader, highly advanced product range through our new partner, while Silex Media focuses on its competency as a systems integrator." The company will also uphold successful ongoing partnerships with third-party suppliers and aims to drive growth in this area. Möller is equally satisfied with the move: "Our entire customer base, which includes a number of systems integrators, will benefit from the wider product range and integrated solutions."
The two companies together can now offer a wide range of complementary products, from Silex Media’s Hydrogen to D.A.V.I.D.’s products used by Radio and TV stations for the acquisition, management, desktop production and delivery/ broadcast of digital media.
D.A.V.I.D. and Silex Media have worked together on a number of projects in the past, including an integrated radio and television production environment for Saarländischer Rundfunk (SR) and an archive management system for Südwestrundfunk (SWR) in Germany. Also amongst the joint customers, consisting of international European broadcast and media organizations, is Austrian broadcaster Österreichischer Rundfunk (ORF).
Silex Media enables media and broadcast companies to integrate highly specialized production and play-out applications with standard ITsystems that are compatible with the rest of their infrastructure. Thanks to its extensive experience - the result of more than 30 projects for leading broadcasters around the world - the company has a thorough understanding of media and broadcast industry customers' needs and requirements. Silex Media's customers include the Danish Broadcasting Corporation (DR) in Denmark, EuroNews in France, and broadcast service provider DutchView in the Netherlands. Says Schindler: "We create value for our customers by combining a detailed understanding of everyday broadcast workflows with in-depth IT expertise."
Formed in 1991, D.A.V.I.D. has many years of experience in providing the broadcast market with solutions for everything from recording and editing to play-out and complete broadcast control. Its customers include several major broadcasters in Europe and North America. "We've been offering highly advanced standard technologies for radio for a long time now," explains Möller. "We will continue to expand our range of radio applications and will leverage our experience in radio to create greater benefits for customers in television."
