Growth and strength through acquisition, new
products and continued partnerships
IBC Show -
Amsterdam, September 6, 2007 – Booth 7.328
Silex
Media has seen an exciting year of development since the last IBC,
characterized by organizational growth, new product releases, strengthened
industry partnerships and key project achievements. Silex Media is therefore
looking forward to the opportunity to meet with broadcasters at this year’s
show to explain how it can help them realize true business and commercial
benefits in their continued transition to open IT-based tapeless solutions.
Stephan Schindler, CEO of Silex Media
commented: “From its inception, Silex Media has been focused purely on
delivering innovative open IT-based solutions to broadcast and media
organizations. These solutions have been targeted at the challenging areas of
media lifecycle management, archive integration and content workflow
optimization. At Silex Media, we bring a strong mix of product technologies,
both in-house developed as well as best-of-breed from around the industry, and
couple this together with leading integration services and support.” He added “We
are very encouraged by the continued support we are getting from new and
existing customers and are excited about meeting many of them at this year’s
show.”
The Silex Media family grows
Earlier in the year, Silex Media announced
the strategic addition of D.A.V.I.D. (7.631) to the group company. This enabled
to the company to dramatically strengthen its multi-channel solutions to the
industry allowing even greater integration between TV, Radio & Internet
distribution platforms. Early success in this integration has already been
realized in the implementation of Silex Media’s Hydrogen product components together
with D.A.V.I.D.'s DigaSystem environment, to address the need for affordable production
workgroups, including with Apple Final Cut Pro. A live demonstration of this
solution will demonstrated on D.A.V.I.D.’s booth.
New product announcement: AtomFactory for Apple Final Cut Pro
Silex Media will also be using this year’s
IBC to announce the launch of its new product, AtomFactory. This is the first enterprise
solution for transparent MXF support on Apple Final Cut Pro, enabling FCP based
workflows to deliver faster time-to-air. Recognizing the need for
standardization and the need for using best-of-breed components, Silex Media
developed an Apple specific version of its successful Hydrogen Media Accelerator
product branded as AtomFactory. It has been developed with the full support of
Apple and is one of their promoted workflow solutions on their booth (7.620)
during IBC. An AtomFactory workgroup edition is available immediately for 4,999
Euro.
Strengthened partnerships
Silex Media recognizes that many of the
best solutions are created from working in partnership with some of the
industry’s leading companies in their field. It is to this end that the company
continues to work alongside broadcast media vendors such as Apple as mentioned above.
It is also extending its partnerships into the mainstream IT industry to enable
standardized cross-industry IT practices and technologies to be made available to
broadcast and media organizations without having to compromise on their very
specific broadcast needs.
One key partnership being promoted at IBC
is with Quantum (10.401), who will be demonstrating the Silex Media Hydrogen
Archive Catalyst product in conjunction with their leading StorNext data
management software. This combined solution enables broadcasters to take
advantage of high performance and yet competitively priced standard IT storage
offerings without compromising on their specific broadcast needs such as
partial file restore using timecode.
Another very visible partnership is Silex
Media’s support of Oracle on their booth (12P.263) as their partner in content
management for the broadcast and media industry. Here, Silex Media will be showing
how its Hydrogen Lifecycle Management solution fits into Oracle’s vision of
cross-enterprise content and information sharing using their industry leading
Fusion Middleware platform, as well as their latest 11g database technologies.
Further customer successes
The company is proud to announce a number
of key customer successes for IBC. Announced in a separate press release are
details on the work Silex Media and Omneon have done jointly in developing a leading
edge ingest solution for EuroNews in France. Also announced separately is how
DutchView in The Netherlands are using Silex Media’s newly announced
AtomFactory to optimize their Apple FCP workflow.
Additionally, the company has had
continued success at the Danish Broadcasting Corporation (DR) by further
enhancing the power of its Hydrogen Lifecycle Management (HLM) implementation.
All Avid ISIS workgroups are now tightly coupled to the HLM cross-organization
media management framework, enabling easy content and metadata share as well as
performance improvements and resource optimization through server-side EDL
conform.
