The partners offer additional ingest power and
control tools with improved security and news input; enhancing business
continuity and scalability
IBC Show - Amsterdam,
September 6, 2007 – Silex Media, a
leading digital workflow provider focusing on the Broadcast and Media market,
has announced that it has been selected by EuroNews, Europe's most-watched
international news channel, to deliver a state of the art Ingest solution as a
result of its partnership with Omneon Video Networks.
Experiencing increasingly
high expectations on its IT infrastructure to drive up performance levels and
meet tighter timeframes, EuroNews went out to the market to seek vendors that
could provide a solution to its problem. Having an already established
relationship with Silex Media (the companies met in 2004 when Silex Media was
operating as part of the SGI Broadcast Unit and) this was EuroNews’ first stop.
In order to create a solution
that addressed the business demands that EuroNews was facing, Silex Media;
working closely with Omneon; offered to integrate a new video processing
technology with its established Hydrogen Media Accelerator Ingest software.
This element alone involved a complex programme of combining Ingest
capabilities with Omneon Spectrum server products.
Now complete, the system not
only enables key editing functionality to be used while Ingest but it also
ensures that security elements within the Hydrogen MediaVista Monitor are not
breached and yet allows all qualified members of the EuroNews network to
control the service level within a dashboard view.
“As a leader in our space
and as a result of the growing demands across the industry, we need to be able
to manage more content within tighter timeframes just to stay ahead of our
competition,” said Philippe Cayla, Chairman and CEO of EuroNews. “This means
that as a business we need to ask more from our infrastructure whilst also
allowing for systems to be scaled and security to be maintained. This is a
difficult balance to strike. From our research, and their reputation, we
concluded that Silex Media’s solution, incorporating the Omneon Spectrum, would
offer the most seamless integration in to our existing tapeless workflow”
Stephan Schindler, CEO at
Silex Media added, “With more capacity and intelligence than ever before, the
business demand for Ingest seems to be increasing on almost a daily basis. The
Hydrogen product line that Silex Media offers is well suited to accompany this
trend and partnerships with organisations such as Omneon will serve to further
enhance complete solutions. We are honoured to have established such a
successful working relationship with EuroNews and are delighted that they
implicitly trust our technology and expertise to deliver.”
Greg Hoskin, Vice President
of EMEA at Omneon commented, “As a company we’re always looking for dynamic and
innovative businesses to partner with; Silex Media’s Hydrogen platform is a
perfect addition to our portfolio. We’re looking forward to working closely
with them going forward.”
