New products
speed up the production workflow, provide transparent access to broadcast
archives and deliver complete lifecycle management functionality.
NAB Show - Las
Vegas, April, 2007 - Silex
Media, a leading digital workflow provider operating in the Broadcast and Media
market, has announced that it will be using the Las Vegas NAB show to
demonstrate the additions to its exciting new Hydrogen platform - Hydrogen
Media Accelerator, Hydrogen Archive Catalyst and Hydrogen Lifecycle Management.
Silex
Media's Hydrogen is based on a framework design that enables broadcasters to
bridge the gap between broadcast and IT, by creating digital workflows based on
the EBU's recommended middleware approach. The Hydrogen products speed up the
production workflow, provide transparent access to broadcast archives and
deliver complete lifecycle management functionality.
Hydrogen
Media Accelerator (HMA) improves running processes in production
offices by giving users the ability to both server-based edit and
edit-while-ingest - while still being available to integrate any existing
applications and production islands.
In
order to ensure the smoothest delivery, Silex Media has worked with some of the
most leading edge organisations in the broadcast business. Apple's Final Cut
Pro, an industry standard, is proficiently supported by Silex' HMA whilst other
media partners include Omneon Video Networks; who's Spectrum video servers for
ingest or playout and MediaGrid for central storage and processing help to
deliver integrated digital workflows.
A
state of the art solution consisting of Hydrogen Media Accelerator, in
combination with Omneon Video Networks, is currently being installed at
EuroNews. Vincent Benveniste, sales director at Silex Media says: "EuroNews
looks for advanced solutions, seamless integration and at the same time total
reliability. We are happy that we are able to offer all this using Hydrogen and
partners like Omneon Video Networks."
Hydrogen
Archive Catalyst (HAC) provides transparent access to hierarchical
storage management digital tape based systems. It complements the Hydrogen
platform and associated tools by giving the user much needed features such as
partial file restore or retrieve. Supported hierarchical systems include SGI,
IBM and Quantum/Adic, the leading global storage company specialising in
backup, recovery and archive, taking full advantage of Silex Media Hydrogen
Archive Catalyst.
HAC
also benefits from the openness of the solution, which lets each user pick
precisely what components suit their business, rather than having to take the
"all or nothing" approach of other vendors.
"When
it comes to Broadcast integration, customers are looking for standardization, so
that they can remain flexible in their choices, now and in the future," said
Stephan Schindler, CEO of Silex Media. "With Hydrogen, we are now taking a
leading role in this trend."
Silex
Media's Hydrogen Lifecycle Management
(HLM) system is set to revolutionise the way that broadcasters and media
companies manage their daily production as well as their archives within a
heterogeneous environment. Built on top of Oracle and developed with Oracle's
Fusion Middleware in mind, the system has built-in customizable workflows that
enable users to search for, process and move content from a single system,
including managing the ingest, adding metadata, editing both on the desktop and
in high resolution suites, automating playout, scheduling programmes and accessing
news room computer systems.
Schindler
adds, "With a flexible and open approach to our technology designs and the
use of standard technologies like Oracle, Silex Media works with customers of
all sizes to ensure that not only can they optimise content access and re-use,
but that they can also integrate their media content with legacy systems or
other areas of the enterprise."
The three
Hydrogen products are available immediately. They can work independent of each
other, or can be used together for maximum results. In either case they allow
the broadcaster to select their favorite workflow and components, where
Hydrogen enables them to improve time to air with edit-while-ingest &
server based editing, transparent archive integration or deliver complete lifecycle
management with total flexibility to manage essence & metadata.
