The backbone information system for the broadcast cooperation - integrating systems, functionalities and workflows.
The partnership with DAVID Systems
has resulted in the transfer of the Hydrogen products
to DAVID Systems. The Hydrogen products continue to play a big role in the workflow solutions provided by Silex Media.
All workflows in the broadcast environment can be supported by the Hydrogen framework. As the heart of a 3 tier system
architecture Hydrogen Lifecycle Management takes care about the overall information sharing:
- Between functions in workflow (client applications)
- Between systems (System to system)
- Between different media types (TV, Radio, Web, etc.)
- Between departments (editing, news, archive but also legal or admin)
- Between organizations (Business to business)
Oracle Joint Value Proposition available
Silex Media's HLM and Oracle work very well
together at Danish Broadcasting Corporation (DR), a leading European broadcaster. Details of the cooperation and solution can be found in the Oracle Joint Value Proposition, available for download

Designed to work across existing infrastructures and integrate
effectively with heterogeneous technologies, which in turn ensures a
straight-forward implementation, Hydrogen Lifecycle Management combines best of breed
designs from the previous broadcast projects that have already been
completed by Silex, with customised additions to ensure that each
customer's unique business needs are met.
Customers can develop their solution at a pace that suits their
business rather than needing to take all the "all or nothing" approach
while at the same time remain flexible in their choices, now and in the
future.
3 degrees of freedom
Easily replace or introduce new editing systems, adding new types of
storage, start with megabytes, grow to petabytes, these changes are
often not trivial because many systems force the customer to live with
the choices made when the system was introduced. Not with Silex Media's
Hydrogen Lifecycle Management, which uses a 3 tier system and allows the customer to remain
flexible in the choices they make.
The 3 tier system architecture consists of:
- user interface and
client applications;
- business logic: management of meta-data and workflows;
- infrastructure consisting
of servers and storage. The functionality of these 3 layers is highly
integrated, however: the choices and scalability of each layer work
completely independent of each other.
